Placenta Encapsulation Services
Placenta Encapsulation is the processing of the placenta after the birth into pill form that may then be consumed by the mother. The process includes steaming, dehydrating, grinding down and encapsulating the placenta. Ingesting the placenta has traditionally been thought of to bring about numerous health benefits to the mother in the postpartum period. It has also been taken during a woman’s menstrual period or during menopause with the intention of diminishing some of the associated symptoms. There has not been sufficient research to know all of the potential benefits and/or risks of ingestion of the placenta, what we know now is mostly anecdotal. Some mothers have reported experiencing occasional negative symptoms such as dizziness or jitteriness after taking the pills. However, in offering these services to women for years now, I have seen many more positive benefits and very minor and rare negative effects. Some of the potential benefits include increased milk supply, reduced postpartum blues, pain relief, accelerated recovery, reduced postpartum bleeding time and boosted energy.
